The Indian Creek Plaza in downtown Caldwell may soon be getting a two-sided, 14-by-7-foot LED display screen to both advertise local businesses and broadcast video footage.
Destination Caldwell executive director Denae Warren presented the project plan — which would be entirely privately funded — to the Caldwell City Council on Monday night.
“The display will be used for sports programming, live watch parties and other community events,” Warren told the council. “Facing Kimball Avenue, the screen will serve as a business directory helping promote local establishments.”
She said that the screen, which would be a fixture on the plaza stage, would be weatherproof and that its brightness will adjust depending on sunlight levels.
A trial run of a similar fixture took place during last summer’s Caldwell Night Rodeo, when a screen was set up for an overflow crowd to watch the events, and Warren cited examples of such displays being installed in urban and suburban shopping areas across the country, like Kansas City, Missouri, and Friendswood, Texas.
“These [screens] are the same products that you’ll see in major football stadiums across the country,” Warren said. “We feel like this product aligns with the growing trend of digital engagement in urban spaces.”
Though no public funds will be used on the project, it will have to be approved by the city council as the screen would be a permanent addition to the plaza stage. It will likely be a consent calendar item at March 17’s meeting.
The goal is to have the screen installed by May, in time for Destination Caldwell’s summer concert season.

According to Destination Caldwell, Indian Creek Plaza hosts over 200 events a year and attracts over 300,000 visitors annually.

When Tension Took Control… During a Pap Smear … 🤣. I went in for a routine pap smear, nervous as hell. The room was cold, the speculum felt like a foreign object, and my mind was racing with worst-case scenarios. Then, mid-exam, I felt this sudden urge to fart—nothing I could control. My face turned tomato red, the tech froze mid-procedure, and I heard her whisper to the nurse, “Did she eat beans for breakfast?”

Rant incoming—if you're considering buying a property with tenants in place, DON’T. I won’t go into every frustrating detail (check my post history if you’re curious), but trust me when I say it’s not worth it. You might think your situation is different, that the tenants seem nice, or that you’ll handle it smoothly. I thought the same. Big mistake.
I thought buying a home was the ultimate goal, the smart investment. But now? I feel completely stuck. I got approved for $400K, put down $100K, and still ended up with a nearly $3,000 monthly payment. At first, I told myself it was worth it—but the reality hit hard.

Hold onto your drapes: A California HOA took “aesthetic control” to dystopian levels by requiring residents to hang off-white or beige curtains—indoors—or face fines. Their logic? Since curtains are “visible from the street,” they needed to enforce a “consistent exterior appearance.” Forget bold patterns, blackout shades, or even slightly eggshell-colored fabric. Your personal style? Criminalized.

If it’s not a true emergency, don’t head straight to the ER—use urgent care instead. I’ve noticed a lot of Medicaid patients tend to go straight to the ER for anything, but it’s just not necessary for non-life-threatening issues. You can save yourself time and hassle by going to urgent care for things like flu, sore throats, sprains, or even pregnancy tests. Most urgent care centers are required to accept Medicaid if they’re affiliated with a hospital, so it’s a solid choice for routine care.

Folks, check out this epic fail from my landlord: Rent shot up by $275 in January, and their “repairs” are straight-up crayon-level disasters. Instead of fixing the rotting wooden columns, they just hammered tons of nails into the base like they’re building a Pinterest project. Then, to cover up the white paint nightmare on our lawn, they rinsed paint buckets directly on the grass and…
