CHILLICOTHE — You may have noticed recently that the iconic arch over East Second Street has been missing the Majestic sign that usually sits on top of it. For months the arch has been bare, but now thanks to Post 62 of the American Legion in Ross County the sign is back.
This new sign is made of LED lights which are brighter and less likely to need repaired in the near future compared to the old neon sign. Gene Hoyet, president of the Majestic Theatre Board of Directors, said the old sign needed repairs regularly making it costly, so the board decided to reach out to the community to see if any groups would like to sponsor part of a new sign.

They never expected one group would give enough to cover it all.
American Legion Post 62 often gives back to the community through various scholarships and organizations. Commander Mike Holz said when the project was presented the group voted to fund the entire thing as a way to give back to a community organization.
To celebrate the partnership members from Post 62 and the Majestic Theatre gathered to see the arch light up the street. During this time Hoyet thanked members of the American Legion for their donation saying they enjoyed coming together and that the new sign is amazing.
"We are just so appreciative," said Hoyet of the donation.
The sign is expected to be lit up every night from dawn to dusk.
